I'm currently painting small wooden panels using traditional folk art designs. They are painted with acrylics which is a brilliant medium to work in as you can either over paint if you go wrong or, if the paint is still wet, just wash it off. I'm going to mount the painted boards on coloured card and then frame in a natural wooden frame.
I did a felting course organised by my friend and fellow gardener Annette. Held in her house with a view of her stunning garden (opened for charity regularly), a group of us spent the day quite literally pricking ourselves and wool to create a variety of animals. This is my effort which I must admit I am quite pleased with! A very therapeutic hobby but despite rushing out and buying everything I need to recreate some more at home I have yet to sit down and do it again. It helps to have fallen out with someone before starting a project as you can them imagine it is them that you are sticking the pins into!
It's also easy to do pictures using the wool. I stuck with a very simple flower just to get the hang of it but you can do all sorts of things such as landscapes and seascapes.
