Mike is building me a shepherds hut at the moment. It will on the long deck (in central photograph above) and will be approximately 12ft by 6ft.. The corrugated metal is ordered and the wood for the frame about to be ordered. The idea is for me to do my crafts in it and not clutter up the house with all my bits and bobs as I do at the moment!
There will be a log burner in there, electricity, a large desk to work at and hopefully plenty of shelves that I can store things on. Outside there will be a stable door approached by wooden steps and one large window so I can see out into the garden as I work. I'm looking forward to cosying up in there with the dogs in winter but am a little unsure if we're all going to bake in hot summer months!
The Hampshire Heartists
The Hampshire Heartists are a group of women who want to learn to do folk art. They are all extremely talented and some of the original members from twenty years ago still turn up each month. It is an extremely therapeutic meeting with tea, coffee, cake and biscuits and plenty of laughter - and some painting! We do various projects and I have just finished a rather large picture of poppies. I prefer to do original folk art, such as Dala horses from Sweden, rosemaling etc, but it is quite satisfying to something on canvas rather than on wood. The December meeting next week will see us doing wooden tree decorations while we indulge in mince pies and mulled wine.
